Spray Foam Removal Prices in Exeter
These are the ranges we work to for Exeter homes. They give you a realistic idea of cost before you get a quote — not a fixed figure.
| Job | Typical cost | What it usually looks like |
|---|---|---|
| Small or partial spray foam removal | From £1,500 to £3,000 | A single sprayed slope, a section opened up so a surveyor can see the timbers, or a small, easy-to-reach loft. |
| Typical 3-bed loft spray foam removal | Around £3,000 to £5,000 | An ordinary family-sized loft with foam on both slopes and a hatch that’s easy to work through. |
| Larger or difficult closed-cell foam removal | £5,000 to £8,000+ | Large or complicated roofs, hard foam fixed fast to felt, boards or slates, or very cramped access. |
| Per square metre guide | Roughly £40 to £80+ per m² | Measured across the sprayed underside of the roof, not the floor area of the loft. |
Guide prices only. Every loft is different, so a confirmed quote usually needs an inspection or at least clear photos. These ranges are not a fixed or guaranteed price, and a few jobs fall outside them.
What Moves the Price
- Sprayed area — the square metres of roof underside covered in foam.
- Open or closed cell — soft open cell foam peels and cuts faster than hard closed cell foam.
- Getting in and out — hatch size, headroom at the eaves, stairs and how far the van is from the door.
- What the foam is stuck to — breathable membrane, old bitumen felt, boarding or the back of slates.
- State of the roof — loose slates, tired battens or damp timber mean slower, more careful work.
- Taking the waste away — bagged foam is bulky and has to go to a licensed waste site.
- Insulating again — most lofts need new insulation laid at ceiling level afterwards.
- Evidence pack — dated photos and a written summary for a lender, valuer or buyer.
Three Example Jobs
Mid-terrace in St Thomas, soft foam on one slope
Small loft, reasonable hatch, open cell foam on the rear slope only. A one-day job that would usually sit in the £1,500 to £3,000 band.
Three-bed semi in Whipton, foam on both slopes
A hipped interwar roof with open cell foam throughout and boarding in the middle. Typically £3,000 to £5,000, depending on how much boarding needs lifting at the eaves.
Large Victorian house in Pennsylvania, hard foam
A big roof with hips and valleys, closed cell foam bonded to old felt and a long carry down three floors. This kind of job is in the £5,000 to £8,000+ band.
These examples are illustrations, not quotes. Your price depends on your roof.
What’s Included in a Quote

Re-insulation and any roof repairs are priced separately, so you can see exactly what each part costs.
How to Get an Accurate Price
Send us photos of each roof slope from the hatch, a photo of the hatch itself, and the survey or lender wording. Many jobs can be given a firm guide from that; others need a short visit before we confirm.
